Hypnotic Dream
Brown is Beautiful This mural centers on the concept of beauty and unity. As communities of color we need to be able to see ourselves as beautiful. Whether we are black, brown, or whatever hues in between, our communities have often been told that we are not the epitome of beauty. Not only does this mural unite our struggles as melanated people, but it challenges the narrative. This mural is about reframing that mindset, particularly beginning with our youth.
Youth in south Central can look at this mural as an affirmation that their melanin is to be celebrated. This empowers out next generation to not ever doubt themselves The flowers around the youth draw us back to nature and the poem surrounding the mural speaks on this theme.
